Service

Filtertechnik Managed Filtration
Filtertechnik now offer a Fully Managed Filtration Service.

What is a Fully Managed Filtration Service?
This means that we will take care of all your machinery filtration requirements from supply of filters to carrying out filter changes to oil analysis and contamination control, ensuring that best practice is carried out and target ISO codes are implemented and adhered to for each part of the plant.

Under a fully managed contract we will:
•  Supply you with quality, cost-effective elements and filtration products.   Our filtration products are extremely competitively priced and will match, if not outdo, the performance of the UK's leading filters.
• Manage your filter stock. Because we know what you need, we can either hold stock for you at our warehouse or manage a consignment of stock at your site.   This means that you will never run out of filters on critical plant.
• Perform a full site audit and identify the problem areas and issue ISO target levels for each filtration function.
• Monitor the cleanliness of fluids through a variety of means such as on-line particle counting, patch testing, laboratory oil analysis. Our engineers can be informed by text message that ISO codes are trending higher and be on site to rectify the problems before you have catastrophic failures.
• Remove any quantity of water from oil from small to large through offline filtration processes or vacuum de-hydration. Water is a major contaminant of oil and can be difficult to remove.
• Provide formal and informal training to your staff to ensure that filtration best practices are observed when we are not on site!
• Provide engineers to perform filter changeouts as per an agreed schedule.
•  Dispose of your used filters and elements in accordance with Hazardous Waste Regulations.

Not all companies will require all of the above services and we can create a package of services to meet your individual needs.

Why you might need a Fully Managed Filtration Service:
Experience has shown us that where there is a requirement for filtration on a hydraulic system or lubrication system, there is generally also a requirement for contamination control as 80% of all hydraulic and lubrication breakdowns are as a result of contaminated oil. Although filtration will ease the symptoms, it won't cure the problem and breakdowns will keep recurring.   Our filtration experts can advise you on how to best clean your oil and keep it clean to avoid future breakdowns.

We have also found that many companies lack the level of employee expertise necessary to run a healthy hydraulic system.   Those working on systems simply don't have the requisite knowledge to manage filtration effectively.   We can provide the expertise without the overhead.

Where a system is not managed effectively and frequent breakdowns occur, the effect on the productivity and the costs to the company can be enormous.   If you calculate the cost of a breakdown to your company per hour (you should take into account loss of production, cost of purchase of replacement parts, cost of fitting spare/replacement parts, re-diverting engineer's time and the administration cost of processing the order(s)), add up the total number of hours of breakdown in the year, you will arrive at the annual cost e.g. if the cost to the company for an hour of breakdown is £35,000 and you have had 30 hours of breakdown in the past year, the total cost to the company for the year is £1,050,000.

If your company is experiencing regular breakdowns and lost production we are confident that for the same amount of money spent on your current filtration we can save you significant amounts of money.

What are the benefits of a Fully Managed Filtration Service?
By implementing a managed system of filtration best practice, your company will:

•  avoid costly, potentially catastrophic breakdowns by dealing with root causes of the problems through improved plant monitoring and reliability
•  significantly increase productivity due to less down time
•  be able to implement/adhere to set standards of quality
•  reduce overall waste costs - of the additional benefits of a managed service is that by having cleaner oil which lasts longer you will have less waste oil which is costly to buy and costly to dispose of.
•  save money on employing experienced, full-time staff to look after your filtration needs

What are the costs of a Fully Managed Filtration Service?
Lower than you might think and probably no more than you are paying for the supply only cost of your current filtration requirement.

This service can be carried out as part of a fixed price contract which eliminates the risk to you of changing your filter supplier. Under a fixed price arrangement we all focus on the ISO cleanliness codes for each part of the plant and implement strategies to ensure the system's oil is always clean. This also eliminates any doubts companies may have about moving away from current filter suppliers.
